Cousins' Reunion ®

A Cousins' Reunion is a monthly class that acts as continuing support for Level One program graduates. Each Cousins' Reunion program uses the same learning methodologies as the Level One program. Each monthly class is planned around an educational video that goes deeper into some aspect of race, racial prejudice, or racism. This is a must for Level One graduates who are always eager to stay connected to other graduates, get additional information and support, and meet graduates from other Level One programs.

We use two sets of twelve videos so that it is possible to hold a different class for twenty-four months without repeating the same subject matter or video. Topics covered include:

  • Youth
  • Self-perception and self-representation
  • Indigenous peoples and colonialism
  • Japanese-American internment
  • Black civil rights
  • Latino, and Hispanic issues
  • Middle Eastern issues
  • Bi-racial issues
  • Race and sexuality
  • Education
  • Fear and hatred
  • Stereotypes
  • Building a multiracial society

Since the terrorist attacks on September 11,  there has been increased stereotyping and discrimination against Moslem, Arab, and South Asian people. To counteract this form of bigotry and to prepare leadership to more effectively deal with issues relating to these  communities, we have recently added Cousins' Reunion videos that address issues facing these communities.
